Date of stay: 19th November 2018
We absolutely loved our stay at the cottage! The place is stunning and really feels cosy, with charming decor and thoughtful little touches that make it feel like a home away from home. The kitchen was fully stocked, which was great, so we didn’t need anything extra. Only slight gripe is the towels - we were a family of three and only had two big ones, which was a bit of a pain, especially since we didn’t bring any for the hot tub. Also, there was an issue with the hot tub leaking water, which we weren’t told about, so we couldn’t use it on day three until it was sorted. Still, overall a lovely spot!

The rooms are spacious and really airy and the beds are super comfy. The boiler is a bit noisy and there are some wall cracks, though.

The cottage was just lovely, really cosy with the log burner and hot tub. The hosts were so welcoming. We’re already planning to come back for longer!
Emma
We had an amazing stay! The house was super well equipped and kept us cosy despite the rainy December weather. The bath was perfect and the shower was a nice size, which we appreciated. The location is great, especially if you have dogs that dislike fireworks-they’ll love the quiet. The place is beautiful and really nicely converted. Thanks a lot for a lovely break!
Emma
We had such a lovely weekend here! The place really ticked all our boxes and we’re already planning to return. Our dogs had a blast, especially with the underfloor heating - they were so comfy! Luna’s wagging got her a bit strained at the vet, but it just shows how much fun she had. Happy pups, happy us!
Emma
We had such a lovely stay at Goddard's Mead! Rob, Sharon and Bonnie really made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The building’s been beautifully converted with care, keeping its historic charm. The location is perfect for exploring Essex, especially if you like wandering around Thaxted and the nearby villages - so much history and charming architecture. It’s exactly what we needed for a relaxing break, highly recommended!

We had a really lovely stay in this charming place, tucked away in a quiet, private spot. The owners were so friendly and always there if you needed anything, but they respected our privacy completely. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day cycling around. Just a heads up, the cottage sits directly under Stansted’s flight path, so there’s quite a bit of aircraft noise. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but honestly, it didn't ruin our trip at all. Would definitely recommend!
George
We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage tucked away on a working farm, yet it feels quite private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are genuinely charming hosts. The place is surprisingly spacious, with well-equipped kitchens and bathrooms and the bed was super comfy. The garden is perfect for dogs-completely secluded and nicely furnished. There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxted has some great eateries like The Star and The Maypole. Overall, we’d definitely recommend it!
Emma
The owners were super welcoming and helpful, especially when the power went out during the storm. The place was spotless, cosy and well-equipped. Our dog loved the enclosed garden and we really enjoyed the hot tub too!
Emma
We had a lovely stay at this peaceful spot. Sharon and Robert really go the extra mile to make sure everything’s perfect. It was our second visit and honestly, we’ll be back again soon for sure!

This place is really lovely! The rural setting is so peaceful and the courtyard with its slate tiles is just gorgeous. The hot tub definitely made it feel extra special, perfect for relaxing after country walks. We had a great time exploring the surrounding countryside and it was the ideal escape from busy city life. Would definitely recommend!

The cottage was perfect for a peaceful getaway, especially if you don’t mind some night-time planes from Stanstead nearby. The hot tub was a real treat too!
Emily
We stayed at this charming little cottage and honestly, it had everything we needed - we didn’t have to pack much! The owners, Sharon and Rob, were super quick to reply if we had any questions. The welcome pack was really helpful, full of useful info and local menus. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was just perfect after a day out. Little touches for both us and the pups made it extra special. Thanks for a lovely break, we’ll definitely be back!

We just got back from a lovely week at Goddards Mead. The cottage has everything you could possibly need, super well equipped. The hosts are really warm and friendly and even though it’s on a working farm, it feels like a peaceful escape. We loved it!

Lovely cottage and a beautiful situation. Very clean and tidy all the facilities that we required were on site. Jacuzzi once up to temperature was lovely, very different to do with current Covid-19 rules.
