We booked the Willow Lodge during Storm Burt, so the weather was pretty dreadful. Thankfully, the place was spacious, modern and spotless. The hot tub was a real highlight-super clean and well-maintained. We appreciated the daily visits from staff to check everything was in order. Looking forward to coming back when the weather’s better!

Comfortable and well-located stay
Emma Carter
Date of stay: 1st November 2023
We stayed at this beautiful lodge and loved how spotless it was. The grounds are kept pristine, with groundsmen always making sure everything looks perfect. The hot tub was checked daily, which was great. It’s the only dog-friendly place we’ve found that doesn’t show signs of dogs having stayed before - nice touch! Delk, the site warden, was super friendly and really helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The location is easy to find since it’s just off the A38, but that also means you hear some road noise. Still, we’d definitely recommend it!
Martin
Date of stay: 24th June 2023
The oven kept causing our electricity to trip every time we used it, really frustrating!
James
We loved this cosy little cottage - just far enough from the hustle but still easy to get to local shops and eateries. The hot tub was a real highlight and the underfloor heating kept us super warm. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome. Already planning our next stay!
Olivia
We loved this cosy little cottage-hot tub, log burner, peaceful surroundings. The hosts were lovely and welcoming. Can't wait to come back soon!
Oliver
We had such a lovely stay! The owners are genuinely warm and really considerate, making everything feel so welcoming. The cottage itself is adorable, with charming half-timbered features and a cosy vibe. The shower is powerful, which was a nice surprise and the beds are super comfy. Parking right outside was really convenient. It’s well-heated, spotless and perfect for exploring-great walks across the fields to Thaxted and easy trips to nearby sights. We’d definitely come back!
Emma
We really enjoyed our stay at Goddard Mead. The cottage had everything we needed and the walks right outside were perfect. The owners were super friendly, making us feel really welcome throughout our visit.
Emma
We stayed at Goddard's Mead recently and were genuinely impressed! Rob and Sharon have done a lovely job transforming this historic place while keeping its charm. They were super welcoming and Bonnie added a nice touch. The location is perfect for exploring Essex, especially if you enjoy wandering around quaint villages like Thaxted. It’s a peaceful spot with everything you need for a comfy, relaxing break. Highly recommend if you’re after a cosy getaway!
Raj Patel
We had such a lovely stay at this cosy place tucked away in a peaceful spot. The hosts were really friendly and made sure we had everything we needed without intruding on our privacy. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day cycling around the area. Just a heads up, the cottage is quite close to Stansted’s flight path, so there’s quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didn’t bother us too much once we got used to it, but it’s worth mentioning if you’re sensitive to noise. Overall, a great little find!
Emma
We had a really relaxing stay. The cottage was spotless, had all the essentials plus some nice little touches. Highly recommend it!
