Visitor Reviews of Ingoldale Holiday Park

Emma Clarke
Date of stay: 15th September 2024
The bathroom was absolutely disgusting-holes in the floor, peeling paint from pipes, mould everywhere, just gross.

Honestly, we were pretty disappointed with this place. The photos made the bungalow look lovely, which is why we booked it in the first place, but the reality was quite different. It’s recently refurbished, sure, but it felt really basic and not very well maintained. The surrounding area was quite grim - full of owners who all seemed to know each other and a family with seven kids who kept running up and down right outside the door all day long, which was pretty annoying. We were even opening the back gate when in the hot tub and looking in while the front door was open. The place was littered with bags of dog poo and the guttering was broken. The car park was packed with bangers and racing cars. Customer service was pretty much nonexistent; the woman at the ‘reception’ was unhelpful and didn’t give us any welcome pack - just a code to get in. Honestly, I wouldn’t go back, the whole park was really run down and dated. Definitely think twice before booking!

Great spot, but disappointing stay

Honestly, the space in the Ashby flat is quite limited, but with some rearranging of the beds and table, it can be manageable. The bathroom does have some mould, which was a bit off-putting. We also noticed flying ants under the double doors, which was a surprise. The main door lock is really stiff and tricky to use, so that’s a bit of a hassle. The kitchen unit looks like it’s seen better days and might need some fixing up soon. Despite all that, it was a warm place to crash after a long day. The heating was hilarious - it refused to turn off, so we just slept in our nightwear comfortably with no blankets needed. Not perfect, but it did the job!

We had another lovely stay at Ingoldales! The check-in info was spot on and they even phoned us in the evening to check everything was alright, which was a nice touch. The site was peaceful and the caravan was spotless - really well looked after. The kids loved the gate on the verandah for safety and being so close to Fantasy Island and the beach made everything super convenient. Definitely coming back!

The kids kept wandering in from one of the chalets, honestly quite frustrating.

We really enjoyed the quiet spot this place is tucked away in, perfect for our family of four after a busy day exploring Skegness. The caravan was spotless and spacious, with decent cooking facilities and two bathrooms, which was a real bonus. It did feel a bit pricey compared to other rentals, but honestly, the privacy made it worth it for us. If you're okay with spending a little more for peace and quiet, we’d definitely recommend staying here. It’s a lovely little retreat away from the hustle and bustle!

We arrived late, just after reception closed and unfortunately, my phone was dead so I couldn't check the instructions sent via text. Luckily, the lady who answered the phone when my husband called was incredibly helpful, guiding us to find our holiday home. It did take quite a bit of running around, especially for my husband, who’s 75, to locate it. We finally found it tucked away behind a house - honestly, we thought that was a silly spot for it. Parking was a nightmare too; there was nowhere near the property, so my husband had to keep lugging all our stuff back and forth. As I’m 78 and disabled, in a wheelchair, I was pretty much useless in helping. Navigating the garden and gravel driveway every time we went out was a nightmare - ever tried pushing a wheelchair over gravel? A small shop in reception for basics like milk and papers would’ve been really handy since we were pretty remote. Still, the staff’s help was appreciated, even if the location was a bit tricky.

The bathroom's definitely in need of some attention-flooring needs replacing and the paintwork could do with a refresh.
James
This place was just what we needed - super cosy and quite private, yet not far from shops and cafes. The hot tub was a real treat and the underfloor heating kept everything toasty. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie were lovely hosts. We’re already planning our next visit!
Charlotte
We loved this cosy cottage! The hot tub was a real treat and the log burner made everything so warm and inviting. Hosts were lovely too. Hope to come back soon for a longer stay-it's just perfect for a peaceful getaway!
Julia
We had a fantastic stay! The house was super well equipped and kept us really warm, which was perfect with all the rain in December. The bath was lovely and the shower was big enough to relax in. Being near the flight path didn’t bother us at all, so don’t worry about that. Perfect spot for dogs scared of fireworks - totally in the middle of nowhere. Thanks a bunch!
Emma
We had a fantastic stay, the place was spotless, super comfy and the hot tub was a highlight!
Oliver
We had a lovely stay at this cottage! The owners are genuinely friendly and went out of their way to help us. The place itself is super cosy, with a charming half-timbered look that really feels like a home away from home. The shower is powerful and the bed was so comfy we didn’t want to get up! Parking right next to the cottage was a huge plus. It’s spotlessly clean, well heated and perfect for walks to Thaxted and beyond. Definitely recommend!
Emma
We really enjoyed our stay at Goddard Mead! The cottage had everything we needed and the walks right outside were perfect. The hosts were friendly and made us feel very welcome. Lovely experience overall.
Emma
From the moment we arrived, Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel really welcome. They've put so much effort into restoring this historic place with real care. Goddard's Mead offers everything you need for a chilled-out stay and the location is perfect for exploring Essex. We loved wandering around Thaxted and the nearby villages - such stunning architecture and history everywhere. Definitely recommend taking the time to explore the area, it's well worth it!
Harriet
We really enjoyed our stay here! The location is stunning and super private, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The owners are genuinely friendly and helpful without being intrusive, which we appreciated. The hot tub was a real highlight after cycling all day-so relaxing! One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, so there’s quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didn’t bother us much once we got used to it, but if you're sensitive to noise, it’s worth noting. Overall, we’d definitely recommend it!
Emma
Really enjoyed our stay here, the place was so peaceful and perfect for our dog too!
Harriet
We had such a lovely, relaxing break. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed, plus some lovely little extras. Highly recommended!
Emma
We had a really enjoyable weekend staying here and definitely plan to return later in the year.
Laura
The owners were super friendly and really helpful when the storm caused a power outage. The place was spotless, warm and well-equipped. Our dog loved the enclosed garden and we definitely made the most of the hot tub!
Alex
Such a lovely spot, super relaxing with the jacuzzi! Can’t wait to return.
Jamie
Really enjoyed the walk, the fields were lovely and having the dogs with us made it perfect.
Emma
Really enjoyed our stay! Lovely hosts, stunning cottage and the jacuzzi was a real treat.
Emma
We really enjoyed our stay here! The peaceful rural setting was lovely and the courtyard with its slate finish was charming. The hot-tub was a definite highlight for us, adding real luxury. Perfect for relaxing walks in the countryside too. Definitely recommend!
Mark
Absolutely loved our stay! The hosts really went above and beyond, making everything super comfortable. Will tell everyone about it!
Emma
