Visitor Reviews of Meadows End Lodges

PATRICK
Date of stay: 18th March 2025
The Google pictures for this lodge aren't accurate and that is a different lodge. This review is for the Texel Lodge at pastures, meadows end, Cartmel.Set in a beautiful location. Little light pollution at night and super peaceful. The lodge is nice but it's showing signs of wear and tear. Hence the 4 star review. The hot tub is a little tired, the general accomodation could just do with a spruce up. However, it is still nice. The laid back approach of the staff is good,no hassle and not being bothered. The hot tub was serviced every day. It's a 10 minute walk into beautiful pictureque Cartmel village and a 10 minute drive to Grange Over Sands.Do not expect a signal here. I think that's a good thing though. Social media and electronic device detox.

Very clean, cosy lodge for two. The back bit with the hot tub was lovely and felt very private. Even though there are other lodges on site it was very quiet with lots of nature about. We saw birds, squirrels and deer every day while there. I would definitely recommend this as a romantic place for couples and we’d definitely stay again.

First time in Herdwick Lodge after visiting Meadows End four times now. The lodge was amazing, spotlessly clean with all the essentials needed. Very spacious with 2 double bedrooms both ensuite and a well equipped kitchen. Log burner warms up the place nicely on the chilly evenings. Hot tub in a very private position and can be accessed easily from one of the bedrooms or main door, nice to sit in and stare at the stars. Of course you have Cartmel village within easy walking distance which we know and love so much now. Plenty choice of pubs and places to eat for a nice a lunch to evening meals and a takeaway sticky toffee pudding!! Coffee and Stays is a lovely place for a breakfast and I would highly recommend it. Cartmel and Meadows End is now our go to place and already pricing up for next year ????

Only a couple of faults. Rug was dirty and the hairdryer didn’t work. Bathroom spotless. Bedroom spotless. Kitchen spotless. Cooker and fridge spotless. Washing machine spotless. Cutlery and kettle and toaster spotless. Furniture comfy and not cheap rubbish. TV remote was a bit fussy. Hoover was naff. Hot tub was spotless and warm. Living area spotless, save the rug. Would recommend.

This was my family’s second time staying at Meadows End. It's a beautiful spot and perfectly located for anyone/family looking to explore the Lake District. The lodge itself was very clean and well prepared for us. It was even stocked with some festive treats - a lovely surprise!! We do think this particular lodge is in need of some TLC (furniture quite worn & tired in living room) but this didn’t take away from the wonderful time we had. Special thanks to the staff team at Meadow End - they were amazing and we appreciated the fab communication received from start to end.

The lodge we stayed in was absolutely superb. It was clean and well presented. The facilities were spot on and the little touches really made a big difference, for example the Christmas tree set up for us arriving. The park itself is immaculate and peaceful - perfect for the relaxing time we needed. The staff we encountered were all friendly and helpful. Overall, we loved our stay at Meadows End and we'll definitely be back for another relaxing stay.

Minimal kitchen supplies and the furniture was a little tatty with a rip in the pouffe. But, it was clean and tidy and the location was excellent.Would recommend that the text we receive states details such as ‘third lodge on the right’ etc to help those arriving in the dark - the names on the sheep are not that easy to see.

Great stay in our second lodge, we were only missing a king size bed and a wooden spoon. Everything else was perfect, including the extra special touches

Teesdale lodge was nice and spacious a bonus to have a washing machine. A few areas could do with some tlc (the hot tub had seen better days for example and the hob ignitor was broken, although could still be used). Rug in the living room seemed full of dog hairs and we always seemed to be picking hairs off clothes as a result (I know it's a dog friendly large but still didn't expect to be delivered hairing our children as much). Would still recommend as was good value for money, just make sure to take your own bottle opener ????

Me and my partner stayed on 27.09.2024-30.09.2024. Before check in I received a lovely message about information on the lodge and any details we needed, which was really helpful. When checking in, I updated them that we had arrived and they wished us a pleasant stay. There was an information booklet with lots of details in for the surrounding area, how to use the log burner and other information what may have been helpful. The stay was really enjoyable. We loved the cosiness of the lodge and the log burner was the perfect addition! My partner loved it. The logs are charged extra but to be honest, it was £12 for a weekends worth which wasn’t bad at all.The park was really quiet and didn’t hear much noise. There was a few girls in the next cabin enjoying themselves on the first night but we didn’t mind them having fun and you couldn’t hear them when the door was closed. The location is great, the taxi wasn’t a long ride into Cartmel. Which was nice for food and entertainment. Grange over sands is around 8 minutes in the car but there’s not much to do there but has a few nice places to eat.I did think the lodge would have been larger but it honestly didn’t affect my stay at all.Towels, soap and shampoo were provided. There was also tea, coffee, sugar and even a bottle of milk in the fridge. There was all the added extras that I would have wanted but I had already brought some in case they weren’t provided. There was even a sticky toffee pudding in the fridge. The TV was great! It was a smart TV meaning we didn’t need to resort to finding something on free view on our chilled days. All in all an enjoyable stay and would definitely look at returning!

We had a wonderful stay in Romney Lodge. The Lodge itself is really comfortable, clean and cosy and a great size for 2. The hot tub was great. It was about a mile walk into Cartmel, probably only walkable during daylight hours. Would definitely recommend for a romantic break and will be returning lovely ????

Our third visit to Meadows End a different lodge each time, but Shetland was our favourite. Loved the location at the end of the park, very private and the view out into the trees was perfect for wildlife. Had plenty of birds visit and the cheeky squirrels. Saw a family of deer most days and even a badger one night. The lodge itself is very well appointed with comfy sofa and bedrooms, all the essentials and a washing machine which comes in useful. Very cosy when the temperatures dropped. Hot tub in a fab position for privacy and looking out onto the trees. We love Cartmel, just a short walk down the quiet road. Plenty pubs and places to eat. Nice to have somewhere you can walk into with so much on offer. Very beautiful little village. We were all sad to leave and will definitely be returning for a 4th visit!

Lovely lodge and everything we needed.. Would stay again but not in the same lodge. Although the lodge was excellent it was positioned in a very shady area and we never saw any sunshine even though weather was hot and sunny.

Had a lovely relaxing holiday very quiet and private the only thing is the lodge is a little dated compared to others but this wouldn't stop me returning as it has everything else such as location privacy and peace
Keith
fantastic could have left some cream to go with sticky toffee pudding
Dawn
Absolutely a lovely lodge, close to all amenities, and was good base to explore The Lakes
Francesca
Beautiful lodge had everything we could of needed, clean, tidy and a great location
Janet
It's a beautiful location and we loved the lodge, although there are a few niggles but I think it's just wear and tear but nothing serious. It's well equipped and we had everything we needed. The weather was beautiful and we spent hours in the garden watching the beautiful birds drink from the water feature. We walked into Cartmel once but then the races were on and we decided to stay away from the crowds as we had our dog with us. The garden is not enclosed so perhaps be aware you will always need to watch over them while sitting outside. This wasn't a problem though and we are looking to return this year. Absolutely loved it.
Philippa
We had a lovely holiday . The lodge was comfortable and had been equipped to a high standard . Hot tub was amazing . Sparkly and clean . The only thing I would have liked was a gate each end of decking to make a small area dog secure . We would book again in a heart beat . Thank you
Brian
The Lodges overall quite good. The set up of lodges was well thought out.
Deepika
Amazing place and well maintained
Darrenn
Fantastic lodge, fantastic location. A cafe or shop on sight would be a bonus but overall no complaints. Already looking to book again for next year
