Visitor Reviews of Brockwood Hall Lodges

Date of stay: 20th November 2024
Our lodge was lovely, perfect spot with great views. Only downfall was that upon arrival it was absolutely freezing in the lodge with only one small radiator in the whole of the living/dining area so took a while to warm up. Also on checking in we were told that if our hot tub was one of the last to be cleaned, then it won't be ready until around 9pm.. turned out ours was most definitely the last to be cleaned as it was still cold at 9pm, we couldn't use until the next morning which was disappointing. Apart from that I would definitely recommend and would definitely return, however, it looks like the prices have shot up for 2025 ????

A Cozy and Luxurious Escape at the Viken LodgeOur stay at the Viken Lodge in Brockwood Hall was absolutely perfect—a true gem nestled in the heart of the Lake District. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the lodge’s charm, warmth, and the stunning natural surroundings. The lodge itself was immaculate and beautifully furnished, blending modern comfort with a cozy rustic vibe. The open-plan living area was spacious yet inviting, with large windows that showcased breathtaking views of the surrounding woodland and fells. The fully equipped kitchen made self-catering a breeze, and the thoughtful touches—like the plush bedding and complimentary welcome pack—made us feel right at home. The real highlight of the Viken Lodge was the private hot tub. It was the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring, with the soothing bubbles and tranquil setting making every evening feel like a luxurious retreat. The location of Brockwood Hall added to the magic. The peaceful seclusion of the lodge allowed us to disconnect completely while being just a short drive from iconic Lake District attractions like Coniston Water and Muncaster Castle. There were also lovely woodland walks right on our doorstep, ideal for a morning stroll or an afternoon adventure. The staff at Brockwood Hall were outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always ready with a smile or a helpful recommendation. Their care and attention to detail elevated the experience even further.Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a family holiday, or simply a peaceful escape into nature, the Viken Lodge offers everything you could dream of and more. It’s a place where luxury meets tranquility, and we can’t wait to return!

Loved the lodge it was really cosy and plenty of room for a family of 5. The hot tub was always hot whatever time of the day, we had some lovely walks too close by and the grounds are really clean and well kept. The only downside to our trip we had was the Billy’s restaurant in Brockwood Hall, the meals are shockingly bad the Sunday Lunch roast lamb was a plate of fat, and the Steaks were cremated to death just tasting of burnt, the chef was very rude and obnoxious and didn’t like you to complain when the meals were rubbish for the money !!

Nice lodge overall, although there was black mould found in the lounge (on the ceiling) by patio doors also in the single bedroom (ceiling in the corner) the lodge did not have a chopping board which is useful to have when preparing food. We had a power cut the site were quite prompt to resolve this,(couple of hours) however, it may be useful to keep battery operated lanterns in the storage cupboard for guests as we had to rely on our mobile phone torch for light. Other than these small issues we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

The lodge is fantastic, offering great living space that caters to everyone's needs. There was plenty of firewood and dishwasher tablets to last our entire stay, although there were no means provided to light the fire. Our only disappointment was the hot tub, which is positioned behind an extremely high fence that obstructs the view we had specifically booked for. This is such a shame, as the view is the best feature of the property. I almost rebooked while we were there, but instead found myself searching for other properties with hot tubs that actually showcase the view. Please consider removing the fence and making the most of the wonderful surroundings.

Fabulous and well equipped lodge.Lots of great features and good amenities. Some of the furniture and fittings would benefit from a little upgrade/deep clean and a clearing of cobwebs around higher areas inside.

I have never felt the need to leave a review before but we stayed in the Kent Lodge on site for my daughter's 10th Birthday and I would advise that people avoid staying at this property. The bedrooms are both a good size, but the living space is far too small for 4 people. We had to rearrange the furniture just so the 4 of us could see the TV. The lodge is in a terrible state of disrepair and smelled of wet dog. The upholstery on all the furniture is dirty and some of it actually shredded. There was no shelf in the fridge, so nowhere to store food. There was no lid at all on the kitchen bin. There was only 1 shelf in the oven and no baking trays, so very difficult to cook for 4. There are several sharp holes in the bathroom walls and the shower needs regrouting. There was a huge dead slug squashed in the bathroom window. There were no mats at the doors so mud and wet being tracked in was unavoidable, especially with a hot tub. One of the bedside table lights was broken and dangerous and the electric radiators looked in need of replacing. The stickers on the radiators all indicated that they were due for PAT testing in 2021. There was a DVD player in a drawer under the TV but the place was so small that this drawer cannot be opened due to the sofa. Staff attempted to resolve some of these issues (the light was fixed, we were brought 1 broken mat and a mop. The slug was removed. We were brought a shelf for the oven but it did not fit. The bin was replaced) They were unable to address the other issues and there was nowhere else on site to move us. In the end I had to raise my concerns with Hoseasons and Brockwood Hall agreed a full refund. Hoseasons found us alternative accomodation in the lakes but this was 1.5 hours away and we had to pay more. Brockwood Hall have offered us a free night stay in any lodge on site between now and the 31st of December, but as this is off peak only and we have 2 children at school this will almost certainly be impossible for us to use.

This was our first time staying at this resort, and I must say we were not disappointed. Having stayed at various lodges around the country, this one ranks among the top for its stunning scenery. We arrived for a Monday to Friday break and were warmly greeted by a staff member who provided clear and helpful information. Our lodge, styled more like a Scandinavian retreat rather than a modern one, was spacious and clean. While the furniture was of excellent quality, it did show some signs of wear, though it was still beautiful. The only drawback for us was that the beds were a bit too firm for our liking. The site features a small wooded area perfect for walking dogs, which was a great bonus as many other sites lack this facility. We dined at the restaurant twice during our stay—once in the restaurant and once with takeout. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Overall, this is a beautiful location, slightly off the beaten path of the famous lakes (about 25 minutes from Coniston), but it offers a wonderfully relaxing stay.

A lot of TLC & attention to detail required to bring a lovely tired looking lodge back to life. Bit of cleaning to do upon arrival on the decking- appreciate it's under the trees & local peacocks like to visit! Fridge was needing to be defrosted, furniture tired, dining chairs were very tatty,- recovering or just plain pine would help! Broken fixtures here & there...it's like nothing gets reported to maintenance! For such a fabulous setting & surroundings it's a bit of a let down & makes it not good value for money. Perhaps have some lodges with no hot tub to be given a choice, esp as I never used it..in today's world we all need good value for our money!

Lovely stay. Lodge was clean and comfortable and had everything we required. Only slight criticism was the fridge as no door on freezer compartment and very thick ice but not majorly a problem
Mandy
Date of stay: 5th May 2024
Lodge was adequate for us and we liked it.. but wouldn’t be good for a family as too small. Shower in bathroom too small for hubby to use… Furnishings are a bit tired, but it was all very clean. Cooker top an old electric ring… took so long to heat up we just couldn’t use. The oven and grill was good. Coffee machine gave cold coffee so didn’t heat up. However if we had have reported it I’m sure the staff would have dealt with it… we just microwaved the coffee after. The views were amazing as was the hot tub so this more than made up. It would not stop us booking again, however we stayed in a hellvellyn lodge last time and would spend a little extra as we think it’s worth it.

Kent lodge was okay, would've been perfect but bathroom at holes in the wall and carpet was filthy other than that it was a beautiful lodge. Hot tub was nice and relaxing. Staff lacked knowledge of the area which would've been helpful for me and my wife as we never been to the Lake district before shop and restaurant opening hours are abit poor I'd of expected longer opening times. No entertainment in the evenings

Lovely week stay at hellvelyn lodge last week. Thought of all the little extras such as nice fluffy large towels, coffee, dog biscuits etc. beautiful location and plenty to do in the local area (Cumbria). Only thing missing was a vacuum and an instruction manual for the hot tub. Would definitely visit again.
Sharon
Had a brilliant time and the accommodation was just the right size for a family of 3 and a dog. The only downside was the lack of fridge and freezer space in the lodge. Location was fantastic, local beaches not too far away and the food at the restaurant was really Nice and the staff were nothing but helpful and friendly. Would definitely visit again :-)
Wayne
Great views around the area. Staff were always polite and helpful.
Katie
Spent a weekend here with my family, including my 20 month old little boy and 2 dogs. Slightly out of the way but a lovely drive to the beach if you want to explore. Cabins clean tidy and cosy, my little boy loved seeing the peacocks roaming. The shop on-site had all the essentials, the restaurant food was lovely and staff really friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time
Claire
Lovely big lodge with plenty of room for the family with everything you need. Friendly staff and lovely wee pub/restaurant. Only downside is could do with a better park for the children. But overall had a lovely stay.
Gordon
Just back from a week's stay at the beautiful Brockwood hall. Loved it. Location is perfect, beautiful views and walks, our toddler and dog both had a great time. The lodges are lovely, hot tubs great, the on site pub and shop brilliant and staff so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back
Gail
Stayed here for 3 days, was just beautiful. The lodge itself was lovely and clean, the beds were mega comfy. Kids and our dog were very happy. Lots to do around the area and Windermere lake is a must to go and visit for the day. Definitely be back soon
Leanne
Lovely stay We have been before so knew what to expect and it didn’t let us down we will return again Thanks
Scott
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Brockwood Hall and would definitely return. The location was exceptional. The on site facilities were great especially the hot tub at the lodge. I know that they are opening a new leisure centre in 2023, which will be a welcome addition. The Peacocks in the grounds added a special touch. The woodland walks were great for the dogs too. Highly recommend this location for a family holiday where dogs are welcome.
Christopher
Brockwood hall really nice, just don't go to millom, nothing there.
