Really enjoyed our stay! The lodge had all we needed and watching others fish was fun.
Sarah
Date of stay: 16th March 2025
The place is pretty run-down and feels really neglected, needs a proper clean.
Rachel
Date of stay: 14th March 2025
Really cosy place with all the essentials covered. The only downside was the mattresses, which could be more comfy.

Really enjoyed our short getaway here. The peaceful lakeside setting and birdwatching made it special. Just a heads up, if the hot tub’s cold, call emergency! Great spot!

We stayed at this place recently and honestly, it felt like we were in a little home away from home. Everything was spotless and tidy, which was a relief. We always wash our dishes beforehand, but it was clear that everything had just been through the dishwasher, so no worries there. The hot tub was fantastic-clean and perfect for relaxing. My only gripe is that on the morning we checked out, we noticed someone, probably maintenance, walking around our lodge at about 8am and by 9am they were draining the hot tub. We could have easily been enjoying it! Our checkout was at 10am, so it felt a bit rushed, like they were eager to get us out. Still, a lovely stay overall.

Decent enough, but it could do with a tidy up.

Honestly, I’ve got to say, our recent stay was pretty disappointing. We’ve been coming to these cabins for years with friends and family and honestly, this was the first time we’ve had such a bad experience. When we checked in on Friday night, the place was crawling with flies - both dead and alive - which was just gross. We immediately rang reception and they told us it hadn’t been cleaned for a week and that maintenance would come soon. Well, we woke up Saturday morning to find the lodge infested again - it was non-stop and we just couldn’t relax at all. To make matters worse, we had to buy our own bug spray just to try and deal with it while waiting for someone to come and sort it out. No one ever showed up, which was really frustrating. The smell in the cabin was awful too - kind of rotten and off and honestly, it felt like some health hazard. It’s just not acceptable. We feel like hygiene standards have been completely ignored - the place was dirty, poorly maintained and honestly, not worth the price we paid. We left early on Sunday because we’d rather be home than stay in those conditions any longer. It’s cost us a lot to travel over 100 miles for what turned out to be such a let-down. We’re really disappointed, especially since we were looking forward to our Christmas getaway, but this trip has turned into a bit of a nightmare. Wouldn’t recommend it after this mess.

The lodge is lovely, but it really needs an update. Also, when guests arrive, a bit of heating should be on beforehand-it's huge, so it takes forever to warm up! Still enjoyed our stay though.

Really enjoyed our time here
Harriet
Date of stay: 6th November 2024
The lodge was really lovely, we felt right at home. Everything was spotless, apart from a few plates and dishes, but honestly, we'd wash those anyway. The fridge and freezers were huge, perfect for storing everything. Bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious, which was great. We loved having both indoor and outdoor seating options. The hot tub was big enough for two and super clean. The wood burner was a real highlight. Would totally recommend this place!

Date of stay: 27th October 2024
The lodge was pretty spacious, though it’s showing some wear and tear inside. The fridge is tiny and the freezer compartment barely holds anything. Also, paying for Wi-Fi was a bit of a letdown, no freebies or basic condiments included.
Sarah
Date of stay: 13th October 2024
Great spot, super relaxing and the staff couldn't be more helpful.
Emily
Date of stay: 6th October 2024
Honestly, the location is beautiful - such a stunning area with plenty to explore. It’s a shame the lodge itself isn’t quite up to scratch, though. The place felt a bit neglected, honestly. The floors hadn’t been properly cleaned; you could tell because of the dust and dirt. The hot tub claims to be checked daily, but I’m pretty sure it’s not, as it didn’t seem very well maintained. The oven was hilarious - it wasn’t fixed in place and wobbled every time we used it! We had some issues with the fridge too; it kept showing error messages. The windows’ seals had blown, which let rainwater in and created a bit of a mess. WiFi was pretty rubbish and the paid option isn’t great, so we just relied on 5G. The worst part? The mattresses. They’ve definitely seen better days - every spring was felt through the mattress. Honestly, for what you pay, these lodges need a good bit of TLC. If they were updated, they could be lovely, but as they stand now, I wouldn’t recommend them.

Relaxing stay, totally worth the money we spent here.

We’ve been to Lakeside twice now, once back in 2015 and again recently this year. Both visits were lovely! The location is perfect and the place is kept really clean, which we appreciated. The staff are genuinely friendly and make you feel welcome. One thing we noticed on our latest trip is that the lodges could do with a bit of a refresh - some freshening up wouldn’t go amiss. We did see work happening, like new walls around some lodges and the hot tubs area, so it seems they’re investing a little. Overall, we’d recommend Lakeside, though a bit more modernisation would definitely improve things for the price.

We had to leave our holiday early because of a terrible fly infestation inside the lodge and rats on the decking. We left a note asking to be contacted but never heard back. Truly disappointing and a real waste of time and money.
Emma Carter
Date of stay: 21st July 2024
Could really do with more mirrors, especially a full-length one. No proper space to get ready either.
Emily Carter
Date of stay: 18th July 2024
We had a great stay overall. The lodge is lovely, right next to the lake, so we enjoyed watching the ducks and geese in the mornings. The staff were genuinely friendly and quick to help with anything we needed, which made a big difference. The mattress was a bit on the firm side, but we still managed to get a decent sleep. There were some marks on one of the worktops, but honestly, it didn’t affect our stay at all. We’re already planning to come back!
Emma
Date of stay: 18th July 2024
The location is truly lovely and we loved the peaceful vibe. However, the lodge felt a bit worn out, especially the noisy stairs that woke us up. Also, the hot tub was way too hot, so we only managed a quick dip. Still, a nice stay overall!
Emma Carter
Date of stay: 25th June 2024
The lodge felt a bit tired and could do with some updates, honestly.

We had a lovely holiday overall, despite the weather. The only real letdown was the beds.
