Woodland Park Lodges - Reviews

This was very much a last min booking for us and there was a good choice of simular lodges in the Shropshire area, we went for this one for the size of the lodge and the woodland location as I was keen to take some wildlife photos while there. We'd previously stayed at the nearby Henlle Hall years ago when it first opened and we were torn between staying there again or trying somewhere different, we went for different and if we'd never stayed at another lodge this would have scored a 5 out of 5.We've scored a 4 just because there was only the one TV, we like to snuggle up in the bedroom with the TV on, the main TV in the living room only worked with the smart channels, on our last day we worked out why, the previous occupants had obviously wanted a TV in the bedroom and had pulled all the cables out of the TV watched it in the bedroom, returned it to the living room and only plugged it into the mains. The main bathroom shower had one setting 'burn off skin' luckily there are another 2 showers to use that were fine.We stayed in another lodge in North Wales last year and the owners provided tea, coffee and other bits in the kitchen this one only had a pint of milk provided. This lodge did have one of the best hot tubs we've ever used, spotlessly clean and with a working cover. The team also did a great job cleaning the lodge before our stay, it was very clean.Sadly the only wildlife we saw in the woods was a cat.If your looking for a secluded place to stay where you can take your dogs for long walks this is the place for you, I've got a small regret that we didn't stay at Henlle Hall as we missed the resturant, bar and wildlife.

I love the touch where they have poo bags and dog bins at the beginning and end of their trail as this is a great idea and wish more company’s and places did this Accommodation was great and ample size and I loved the outside balcony with the heater to keep warmKitchen, bathroom was all adequate size and the heater worked really well in the room Very dog friendly and loved the little touches - dog treats, milk and jam so we could have a cuppa

We had a great time at Woodland Park for our anniversary. The treehouse was spotlessly clean and so peaceful. It’s impossible not to relax there. Hot tub was fab and the Bluetooth speakers and mood lighting were great touches. We did the woodland walk bit muddy but not a problem. 10 mins to local Tesco by car and town of Ellesmere.WiFi was a bit sketchy but not a problem. We will return ????

Absolutely brilliant. Would highly recommend for a family getaway. We were celebrating my daughter’s 25th birthday so various age ranges and 2 dogs . Just perfect . We were sad to be leaving but will definitely be back .

Sofas small and not very comfy but lodges was well equipped. Could have done with more towels/ robes. Main issue was the smell (as mentioned previously)

Very happy with our stay but some minor house keeping issues need attention. eg shower had a constant drip, freezer needed defrosting drawers difficult to open because of ice build up, lid broken on kitchen waste bin, thermostat needed batteries changing. None of which, we hasten to add impacted on our holiday, We informed them.

Snowdrop treehouse is really stunning, It had everything we needed, kitchen is well equipped lots of plates, dishes, cutlery, pots and pans, full size fridge freezer, separate wine fridge and coffee machine, lounge had a comfy sofa, large tv and feature fireplace, bedroom had comfy large bed, walk in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with large shower, heating was hive and you manage temperature yourself, outside was a secure decking with lovely views and great hot tub (we hired the gazebo to go over the top, which was ideal) The gate bars were quite wide so did make me a little nervous our small dog might get through so we did block it off, if I was being super critical I would have liked robes for getting out of hot tub , We loved our stay and will definitely be back

Great lodge, great hot tub. Location was nice with lovely woodland walks. The staff were very friendly and helpful and always happy and welcoming. I would not hesitate to return as it was a great lodge. Would recommend hiring the gazebo as really gives the added touch. Facilities are great, showers are great with good pressure and always nice and hot. Cons was it could have been cleaner, we brushed up on arrival and it got a lot up, under the beds hadn’t even been touched. However I would not let this stop me from returning as cleanliness of beds etc was spot on.WiFi was also poor but manageable, would recommend downloading films before arrival, however they do offer free DVDs in reception which is an excellent touch. The only other con is the lights. When you turn them on they take a while to come on and aren’t like a standard bulb. Was confusing to work out which light did what and was probably too complex for what’s needed.

on first glance all looked very clean. The kitchen, cooker and fridge were all clean. The shower was a bit grim with a lot of hair coming up from the plug hole. we did not investigate this further however, maybe a good old clean etc would do the trick

We stayed in the Orchid Treehouse. It’s absolutely beautiful. The kitchen is fully equipped. It was great that we have access to a washing machine as we were able to wash our muddy clothes after walking the dog. The living room was lovely, with a great smart TV. The fireplace was beautiful and cracked out a lot of heat. The bathrooms were very clean, and had toilet paper and hand wash. The only downside is that the bottom of the shower is very shallow so can sometimes over run. Plenty of towels, green and white so you can distinguish between your hot tub and indoor towel. The hot tub was very clean, large and hot. Can’t ask for anymore. The garden furniture and balcony was a 10 out of 10. Bedrooms are tight but manageable. I am 5ft 4 and my feet did overhang the bed so I wish the beds were a bit bigger. There are wardrobes and a set of draws in the bedrooms. There is a hairdryer also. There is also a little cupboard with a broom, Dustpan and brush, iron&board and clothes horse. The woodland walk this time of year was extremely muddy and slippy and not suitable for prams. But I managed to do it eight months pregnant and my 18 month on my husbands shoulders. Tesco is about a seven minute drive away and we found it to be a lot more expensive than our local Tesco. So if you can do a food shop beforehand, this may be advisable.

A comfy basic lodge. Needed a few more kitchen implements., like a potato peeler, sharper knives and a proper chopping board.Lovely bed and good heating.Well maintained hot tub. Some areas of lodge needed a bit of TLC.But overall it was good.Beech lodge quite cosy for 4 adults, probably better with 2 young kids.

As a family we couldn't have asked for more regarding the accommodation and location of the Woodland Lodge. The Lodge was immaculate, all facilities working and everything you could need to self cater. Furniture was comfortable and well kept. The hot tub was a real bonus. On site there was a woodland walk which was well marked and good fun to go along and you could travel quickly into Ellesmere for things to do and see (e.g. parks for children, shopping and the local gin distillery!). Thank you to the Lodge staff for providing a Places to Visit guide!

Our 9th year of visiting woodland park lodges and it never disappoints. Lovely spacious lodges in beautiful woodland. Family time and relaxation......

Lovely stay in the Beech Lodge. Very clean and organised. Had everything we needed. Hot tub was great for relaxing when the children were asleep, although we found that the temperature wouldn't turn down even though we kept setting it to lower; it was a little bit too hot for us after about 20 mins. Location is good, we visited Shrewsbury, Ellesmere, Colwyn Bay, the Welsh Mountain Zoo, Chester Zoo and the British Iron Works. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Thanks for a lovely stay; we only wish it was longer.

The only issues I have with the place are petty and unimportant, of things they have no control over such as the lack of phone signal and wifi. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back again!
Cheryl
Private hot tub, wifi intermittent. Stayed in redwood large lodge short walk to picnic area and had anchors to attach dogs leads which was a bonus.
Robert
