I was upgraded to the birches 8 berth lodge, the lodge was very spacious beautiful views from the large windows, fully equipped kitchen, I do believe a few small touches would enhance the interior like cushions and the decking’s could do with a makeover, but this would not prevent me from coming back here,, the hot tub was the biggest I have ever sat in,, and kept it’s temperature perfectly, definitely recommend penvelle, for location and scenery,

Brilliant holiday with friends. Lodge needs some tlc, otherwise it's great, has everything we needed, even if a little dated. Hot tub was great and very well kept.

One of the couches worn and covered with a blanket. Should be replaced. Only thing that let it down

Appalling was told that it was being painted lol probably 5 years ago ????shower cubicle broken couldn't sit on the toilet seat microwave rusty mould on walls and ceiling upstairs..

2 x chairs legs unstable Washing machine did not work Cooker - poor working orderTv - Tv was not a smart TV, did not have built in free view and aerial was broken. When addressed I was told most people bring their own fire sticks.

Visited with my family for the 3rd year running. Beautiful place. Excellent accommodation and the staff are great, nothing is too much trouble.

Not good at all the cabins log burner was out of order the swimming pool was out of order the electricity went off while we where on a walk all our food defrosted had to go buy more had no towels or high chair we had paid for

Was a bit dubious after reading some previous reviews but we loved our trip. The lodge was spotless, super comfy beds and pillows and everything we needed. Beautiful setting and views. Hot tub was ready for us when we arrived. Genuinely had the most relaxing lovely weekend. Couldn’t fault it and will definitely return in the future.

Firstly I will say that Leoni did obtain a full refund after discussing the numerous issues with my sister. This was a birthday surprise & what a nasty surprise it turned out to be. We have been coming to the lodges since they were opened & we were horrified at what we encountered this time. There is obviously no funding going into the lodges!! They are falling apart & in some cases are a health & safety hazard! I have attached photos of lodge 6 which was appalling & lodge 8 which we moved to which was no better! Cooker didn’t work at all. We enjoyed our stay in a beautiful location and would return. However the site is in need of maintenance....our log burner was out of use, the decking is rotting and the guttering needs a good clean

The log burner was out of use but we didn't miss it the heating was sufficient enough.

There is a awesome Jacuzzi/hot tub, lovely grassed area in front of the cottage, BBQ, Washing Machine and Dishwasher

Beautifully presented lodge. Lofty ceilings making it nice to look out at the area. Every facility available. More than a home from home.

All the facilities & items in the cabin are in need of changing, you can feel every spring in the mattresses, the sofas in the living room were all ripped & to cover this up they had placed throws on them

A little run down The boiler makes a lot of noise And too near the neighbours who live there

Really unhappy, wouldn't stay here again! no hot water, no heating, no BBQ and the wood burner out of use. My wife now has the flu!

We stayed mon to Friday love this site so peaceful and relaxing , love feeding the ducks and squirrels every day and seeing the heron

Beautiful setting

Booked the lodge for my husbands birthday. I can honestly say it was the most amazing weekend. Loved every single minute. Everything was clean and tidy. The hot tub was screened off and there's enough distance between each lodge and had a bbq (which we did in the rain, well why not) . It was so quiet and peaceful while we were there, which is what we needed. Plenty of wildlife around, squirrels come down early in the morning and we had a Robin get into the lodge. We will definitely be looking at dates to come back.

Cottage was lovely although very tired in places. There was quite a bit of mould around the windows and in the bathrooms . Could do with updating and a fresh coat of paint

Was a beautiful location, found the kitchen supplies were a bit sparse, only enough for 1 piece of equipment each - plates cutlery cups etc, could have benefited from spares and extra pans and utensils.We stayed in Lodge 9, it was a dog friendly property. The decor was tired and needed a paint, was clean though. Hot tub was nice too.We used the pool, didn’t feel very clean but the kids enjoyed it.Overall a nice break, just needed the accommodation freshening up.

Love the tranquil setting of Penvale Lakes. Have visited numerous times over the past 10 years. Lodges are spacious and have everything you need. Only criticism is that the furnishings especially the sofa's need replacing and some of the kitchen equipment mainly cutlery and glass ware needs replenishing. Will return.

We chose this lodge because of the log burner. We was advised a few days before our visit that the burner was broken. We was not even asked if we wanted to go to another lodge. We always book 12 months in advance

One of the best holidays we have had! Quite position - just the babbling brook! Lovely fishing, swimming and jacuzzi. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful and relaxing. Just what was needed.

Great lodge with a hot tub in beautiful surroundings. We had amazing weather and the kids really enjoyed using the outdoor pool (which is covered when the weather isn’t so good). It took about an hour to walk to Llangollen which is a lovely little town. Lots of lovely walks along the canal, the river or through the countryside. It’s a shame that there isn’t a bar or restaurant on-site. There are 2 pubs nearby (not open every day) and a bar/restaurant at the nearby campsite though.

Stunning setting, peaceful & relaxing. We went as a group of 8 to celebrate a 50th birthday, the lodge was everything we wanted, spacious living & kitchen area, which was well equipped, and we made the most of the bbq & hot tub! Bit of a walk into Llangollen and no pavement on busy stretch of road
