While the park and surrounding area is nice, the lodge we stayed in was really poor. Completely lacking in amenities (no tea towel, hand towel etc.), broken blind, broken freezer and more. The lighting is really poor around the hot tub area, something which seems to be mentioned on other reviews. But worst of all, the mattress is an absolute disgrace. Large, painful springs sticking out of it - I’ve since mentioned this to the park and they have just told me to go away. Really, really poor.

Overall we had an enjoyable break. As a couple with a relatively new baby (10 months) this short break alone was definitely what we needed. The hot tub was fantastic and the glamping pod itself was ok. Value for money was decent. Cooking here (proper meals) isn’t possible unless you purchase or bring some essential items with you. Few things I personally would improve. With a place including a hot tub, I would definitely recommend some sort of mat inside the pod. Floors were soaking wet and had to use towels to clean up which wasn’t ideal as towels are sparse even with bringing our own. The outside area is very dark, had to use phone torches, so some lights outside would be beneficial. A mirror outside the bathroom would be great for when hair tools need plugged in to a socket rather than having to use my phone. A full length mirror outside the toilet door would be perfect. Cooking was a major disappointment - we like to cook and upon arrival there was no big knife or chopping board so we had to go and buy it which wasn’t expected. There was a very strong smell of bleach upon arrival so we also purchased a candle to try to get rid of that as it was not pleasant. Restaurant/bar closes at 430 but fair enough as it is right next to the river (which is beautiful) and you don’t want drunken folk around that so understandable. Over all decent and enjoyable. This is just a few minor tweaks that I think would make it 10/10.

Pods we're ideal, perfect for a couple or small family with everything you need for a short break. Hot tubs were fantastic and we really liked the idea of building the fire to heat the tub up.

The setter was not very comfortable but everything else was very good. All the facilities were clean the hot tub could have been a little cleaner as there was a fake tan scum around the top which stained our swimming costumes. We did like the locatin and the site staff were very helpful.

Overall we had a fantastic time away, the hot was amazing. Perfect location as it’s only an hour away from Edinburgh and Glasgow. Lost a star because when we arrived there was no hand soap or hand towels and bath towels. That was a disappointment as we had to go and buy some. It didn’t say anything on the website when I booked it so maybe you should warn customers to bring their own towels. Lovely cabin and easy to find and you can come and go as you please.

The only thing I'd like to see on the accommodation is a gate on the ramp to keep dogs on the deck without having to tie them up. I managed to block the ramp using the table and my cool box. This would also give parents peace of mind keeping children on the deck. Great peaceful location!

Brilliant & cosy cottage far enough out the way to be secluded but close enough to local amenities. Amazing hotub & bathroom with underfloor heating throughout tops it off. The owners, Rob & Sharon are wonderful! (And of course Bonnie) Will definitely be coming back again for longer ASAP!!

Really well equipped house, lovely and warm too which was so nice on a rainy December day! Bath was just lovely and a nice big shower! The property is under a flight path - this did not disturb us at all! Dont be put off! A great location for dogs who hate fireworks as it's in the middle of nowhere. It was everything we wanted for our weekend away and we loved staying here. We'll definitely be back! Our pups absolutely loved the underfloor heating and had so much fun in the garden. In fact Luna came home with a strained tail and according to the vet it was because she was wagging it so much over the weekend!! Very happy pups and hoomans!

Lovely cottage. Great location for us. Away from the hustle and bustle. Great hot tub . Lovely helpful non intrusive owners. They have it just right!

Absolutely loved how well maintained and equipped this cottage is. Plenty of dog walks right on the doorstep. Very friendly host, they were so efficient and communication was excellent. We enjoyed meeting the animals on the farm and the very curious pig penelope. Perfect escape for us and the doggos. Will definitely be back, brilliant value!! HighlRead morey recommend. Hide

Very kind and considerate owners. Couldnt be better. Enormously helpful and extremely pleasant. We had a wonderful time in Goddard Mead. The cottage was very complete and there were walks on the doorstep. The welcome and stay was very warm. The owners are lovely people.

The owners Rob & Sharon, have gone to a great deal of work to sympathetically convert this historic building & we couldn't have had a warmer greeting from them both & of course Bonnie. Such a lovely place to stay in a really beautiful, private location. The owners were really friendly and helpful, nearby if needed but without breaking that sense of privacy. The lovely cottage is situated on a working farm, but is very private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are delightful. The cottage is very spacious with good equipment in the kitchen and the bathroom. The bed is really comfortable. The garden is secluded; dog proof and with good furniture. There are numerous walks around. Thaxted has good restaurantRead mores. We liked The Star and The Maypole. The Swan and the Indian are not bad either. We thoroughly recommend this place. Hide
