Stayed here for a week during easter holidays, check- in was very easy and we received an email 2 days before hand which instructed us in the key code for the lodge and gave us some info on operating sauna/ hot tub with emergency contact should we need. They had a nice handy booklet with local information on nearby takeaway/ pubs/ shop and bus stop. The lodge was super clean and well presented. There were three of us staying here and we felt at ease during our stay and we noticed they had CCTV in place and as we were checking out we noticed they were installing what looked like a gate for the added security but we felt secure on the site, Only a small handful of lodges but these added to the peacefulness of the location being 30 min from york by bus, it was quiet and a nice relaxing atmosphere. Tea, coffee and sugar was provided which was very handy and a nice touch, we were provided with towels however as we stayed for a week maybe a spare one may have been an added bonus but if you are staying a few days then this is more than enough. The hot tub was the main selling point for us on this trip and it was perfect although on the 4/5 day it did start to look grimey and a change would have been good. The sauna was an added bonus for us and was really good. Sufficient toilet paper was provided aswell as hand soap. We liked the games that they had in lodge to play, cards against humanity and pub quiz etc.Knives in the kitchen to cut meat and vegetables could do with sharpening as it was a little tough to cut with.Overall we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would 100% recommend and stay here again. I may already return to this place in the future and if you don't drive it is easy to get to.The Derwent arms just 10 min walk away was really good and dogs are welcome in the main pub area to the right as you walk in.

The log cabin was lovely, cosy & very clean. Hot tub & sauna very good to have. The size was perfect for 2 adults & would work if you also had 2 small children. If your kids are teens, I think the size would be tight though & certainly too small for 4 adults. The best thing is the proximity to York, less than a 10 minute drive.

Awesome tranquil location, top cabins, sauna and hot tub make this feel like a real retreat. 10 minutes drive into York, lovely peaceful getaway, remains unspoilt, lovely staff and owner could not do enough, already booked again for December.

We arrived not knowing which cabin was ours, luckily Jason was working on site and pointed us to our cabin. After unpacking we were told we were in the wrong cabin, but could stay there rather than unpacking everything again. It meant we had a cabin without a sauna. At 8am the next morning we received our welcome email with arrival instructions!! The cabin is 2 bed for 4 people but the small hot tub only fits 2. The hot tub was cold on arrival and could not be used on the night we arrived. We have done many log cabin breaks and always been able to use the hot tub on arrival night. On the plus side, it’s a cosy cabin and easy access to York with the park and ride round the corner.

Great location. You'd think you are in the depths of the countryside when you are only 10 minutes drive from York City centre. Lovely and quiet and grounds immaculately kept. Beautiful lodge with covered veranda to enjoy the lake, hot tub and fishing in all weather's. French doors opening from the master bedroom were a plus for me to read on the bed and sleeping with them open overlooking the lake. Would recommend and return.
