We loved the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful scenery from the lodge. It’s perfect for relaxing, though those steps to the car park did occasionally make us nervous, especially after a long day. Still, lovely stay!

Wow, what a fantastic place! We’ve done quite a few hot tub getaways over the years and honestly, this lodge might just be our favourite so far. The Otter cabin has stunning views that are perfect for relaxing, especially from the bubbling hot tub at night under the stars. It’s really dog-friendly too, with gated decking, grassy areas and lovely river walks just a few steps away-our dog loved it! The hot tub was spotless, private and stayed warm the whole time, which was great. If you fancy venturing out, Barnard Castle is only about 15 minutes by car, with a pub, shop and chip shop nearby for convenience. The log burner made everything feel super cosy and we really appreciated the extra treats left for us and our dog when we arrived-that was such a sweet touch. Big thanks to Bill for being a lovely host; it was great to meet you! We’re already planning our return to Whispering Lodges soon!

We had such a lovely stay at this little gem by the River Tees. The location is incredibly peaceful and perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle. The lodge’s facilities really suited us - especially the hot tub and the cosy log burner, which we couldn't get enough of. It’s fantastic that dogs are welcome and the enclosed outside area was a real bonus for our pup to roam safely. The sliding patio doors are a lovely touch, offering stunning views of the fields and river right from the bed - waking up to that was just beautiful. There’s plenty to see and do around here, so we’re already planning our next visit. Can’t recommend it enough!

This lodge really ticks all the boxes for us. It’s so cosy and welcoming, with little touches that make a difference-like the homemade cake and fizz. The starter pack of essentials was handy and they genuinely care about pets, with treats and bowls ready for our dog. The owners are lovely, nothing’s too much trouble. Can’t wait to come back again!

We stayed at Whispering Waters a few weeks back and honestly, we’re still talking about how lovely it was. Sorry it’s taken us ages to get round to saying thanks! Bill, Sue and Bea really made us feel at home; they’re so welcoming and attentive. Even though our plans changed and our group was smaller than expected, we had such a chilled-out break in the most stunning setting. The welcome basket was a sweet touch and kept us busy trying all the treats. The drive from Cornwall was long, but totally worth it - especially since Bill suggested the Fox Hole for dinner. The belly pork there? Absolutely to die for! The lodge itself was just perfect - thoughtful little details everywhere, making for a proper stress-free escape. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed, which is just what we needed. Can’t recommend Whispering Waters enough if you want a peaceful retreat in beautiful surroundings. Thanks so much to Bill, Sue and Bea for making our stay so special!

We had a fantastic stay at this lodge! The location is peaceful and away from the hustle, perfect for unwinding. The place itself is super modern and comfy, with all the amenities you could want - internet, TV and a thoughtful welcome pack with milk, bread, tea, sugar and some sweets. Everything was spotless and well-maintained. The log burner was a nice touch and they even provided kindling and lighters, which was handy. The detailed welcome folder covered all the info you’d need about the lodge and local area, making check-in smooth. We’re a family of four and honestly, the kids loved it so much they didn’t want to leave! The only thing to keep in mind is that, because it’s an eco lodge, running out of logs can make it a bit chilly at night, but there were plenty of blankets. We only lit the fire on the last night - otherwise, it was cosy enough without it. Great place overall!

Really enjoyed our stay, peaceful and well-situated place.
Emma, Gb
Great spot for a relaxing break, especially with the dog!
Emily, Durham
We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. It was spotless and beautifully decorated, making us feel right at home. The hot tub was a real highlight, perfect for unwinding after a day out. The welcome pack was such a lovely touch, we appreciated it a lot. Only downside was the tiny ice box in the fridge - it couldn’t keep things frozen for long. A bigger fridge would be a big help if staying longer.
Emma, Gb
Really good little lodge, beds are comfy but sofas feel a bit tight.
Emma Carter, Gb
Great place to unwind peacefully
