Just back from Southerness, if you have a young family this is the holiday park to go to. All the caravans are very clean, plenty to do in and around the southernness and Dumfries area. If the weather is what it has been like over the last 5 days it is a great place to take the kids!!

The main door was a mess-there was about an inch gap all around, so the cold air just breezed through, even with the heating on. It was freezing! Staff didn’t seem to bother offering any help either.

We really enjoyed our stay! The site has loads of kids’ activities and the beach and caves are just a short drive away. Climbing Criffel was a great adventure too.

Overall, we had a decent stay. The caravan was clean, but there were a few little issues like the broken curtain pole in the living area and the tatty sweeping brush. The TVs are pretty basic, but having two toilets was a real plus for us. The three bedrooms suited our family perfectly, especially with two teenagers. Not perfect, but we’d come back!

Honestly, we had a mixed experience. The staff in the entertainment zone weren’t the friendliest and the lifeguards’ comments were pretty poor, especially when they were just standing around joking and laughing. As someone who used to be a top lifeguard, I’d never speak to people like that. Plus, charging nearly three quid for a tiny bottle of water is just ridiculous. Prices are always steep on holiday parks, but this was beyond the pale!

The clubhouse was way too pricey and not at all dog-friendly, which was a real letdown. Pool access was a pain, we couldn’t even swim without booking first-bit of a hassle!

We had a lovely stay at this holiday park, perfect for our little ones. The location right by the beach is just stunning and the kids loved the activities and swimming pools. The staff were genuinely friendly, polite and always ready to help, which made a big difference. On the flip side, our new-style caravan didn’t quite match the pictures - it looked a bit tired and wasn’t thoroughly cleaned when we arrived, which was a bit of a let-down. The restaurant was quite slow and it was often a bit grubby when we went in, though the rest of the site was spotless. We’d definitely return and recommend it for families with primary school children!

We stayed at this park and honestly, it's quite tidy with a decent shop, laundrette and entertainment area. However, our caravan was a bit of a letdown - it wasn’t cleaned properly. The fridge and freezer were filthy and the lino was grubby. Even the carpeted parts had dust and bits everywhere. Pots and pans weren’t very clean either. It’s a gamble relying on the previous guest’s cleanliness and honestly, it should be checked better. We arrived at 5 and then spent two hours cleaning it ourselves. The late check-in time, supposedly for Covid cleaning, just felt like a way to cut down on cleaning time, not actually improve it. Once we sorted it out, though, it was comfy and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We recently checked out this spot right in the middle of the entertainment complex, next to the arcade and honestly, it’s a pretty good place to relax. Sure, it’s on the pricier side, but the lighting and decor are simple yet classy enough to make you feel comfortable without feeling stuffy. We had a really fun time there, especially since they seem to change their lunch menu quite often and it’s always worth trying. We went for dinner once and it was solid. Breakfast, though, was a bit disappointing - why don’t they include two slices of bread with a traditional breakfast or just tell you upfront? It’s a little puzzling. The Costa coffee was a mixed bag; one day my son got ‘the best hot chocolate’ and loved it, but the next day it was watery and tasteless. The lattes were similar. Still, overall, a nice place if you’re not keen on cooking in your caravan and want a break from it all.

We absolutely loved this lodge! The sea views were stunning and the open-plan living space made it feel so airy and welcoming. The large decking was perfect for outdoor meals and having two bathrooms was a real bonus. Beds were comfy with lovely covers and plenty of towels. Would stay again!

The staff casually eating ice cream while we checked in was a bit odd and it would’ve been helpful to have clearer instructions for the van’s heating and TV. The entertainment programme promised bingo, but sadly, no bingo. Still, the pool was lovely and spotless!

Overall, we had a decent stay. The caravan was clean and well-kept when we arrived, which was great. A couple of curtains were hanging loose, but we sorted them easily. The oven only had one rack and no trays, but it wasn’t a big deal. Would stay again!

We found the holiday home quite comfortable - it was warm, clean and well-equipped. The central heating was easy to control, which was a bonus. Everything in the kitchen worked fine, though we brought our own frying pan and knives since we like them a certain way. The TV was a bit hit-and-miss; some days the channels were perfect, other times not so much, maybe because of the wind. Still, we’d stay again!
