Ranksborough Hall offers peace and tranquillity providing pure relaxation across beautiful landscaped grounds.

Ranksborough Hall itself was built in 1893 for Lord Ranksborough who was equerry to Queen Victoria.

The charming village of Langham is on the doorstep with two ancient local pubs within walking distance.

Rutland is England’s smallest and arguably prettiest county, and certainly lives up to its motto, Multum in Parvo (much in little).

This rural escape is the perfect place to spend time enjoying the great outdoors.

Looking for things to do in Rutland? Take to the water, and there’s plenty of it, nature reserves bursting with birdlife, and country houses.

Tiny Rutland makes a big splash.

Lap the vast reservoir by foot or bicycle and take in lush, green nature reserves where elegant ospreys with giant wingspans dive for their fish suppers.

High teas are served up at this central county’s stately homes while centuries-old country inns pull cask ale pints.

Visit castle halls harking back to Norman times.

For a relatively small county Rutland has its fair share of golf courses.

Get ready to tee-up with views across Rutland Water.

The quaint towns of Oakham and Uppingham offer a range of individual boutiques.

Uppingham is famed for its antiques and galleries, whilst the county town of Oakham offers a great mix of quality high street and independent shops – not to mention a castle!.

We spent the week at Ranksborough whilst visiting relatives in Leicester. Managed to get a few days out around the area, Oakham and Rutland Water being well worth the visit. The lodge ( no. 37 ) was a lovely base, very clean, with everything you would need to have a few meals in when you don't fancy going anywhere at night complete with a relaxing time in the well maintained Hot tub. Site was beautifully looked after and very peaceful , would definitely recommend.

The lodge was not cleaned properly and musky smell also cigarette ends on the decking near the hot tub and the windows were filthy. Not idea for the money you pay which was a lot really disappointed with it would not recommend it. Far better value for money around there.

Cannot fault the actual lodge - it was spacious and extremely clean. There was a great veranda space to be able to sit outside. The staff were also very good sending over clear details well in advance regarding lock box access, check in times and wi-fi codes and were in contact via email during our stay to check everything was ok. However, the holiday site itself is in the middle of an estate of retirement bungalows for the over 55s, and did not live up to the "immaculate" reviews previously posted. There were a number of run-down buildings around the Hall and a couple of marketing site offices so it all felt a bit like a housing estate sales plot rather than a holiday site. If you are looking for peace and quiet then it would be a good place to stay but bear in mind you will need a car to get out and about., there are no facilities at all on the site. And no play area or other spaces for children. In terms of location, the walk to the village pub is literally 5 to 10 minutes, but there is nothing else there. We went to Gates Garden Centre and Farmshop at Cold Overton which is definitely worth a visit, and Melton Mowbray and Oakham are a 10 to 20 minute drive from the site.

Real nice place to stay and provided a lot of useful information about local takeaways and supermarkets. Use of a vehicle is a must. Great to have WiFi. Would say only downside is that as a pet friendly accommodation the cleaning equipment was not enough. No hoover or mop and bucket. The only way to try to keep it clean is with a sweeping brush which had seen better days and not much use. The caravan had everything else needed. The other downside was the humming from the hot tub on next doors veranda. Hummed all day and night even though no-one was staying there. Not sure if it was an oversight or not. Enjoyed the fact that due to not having any on site facilities, there were no children stating there so had full peace and quiet. Local pub in walking distance but you do need to check opening times as not opened everyday and does not serve food everyday. Seems all pubs only serve food until 2pm then again from either 5pm or 6pm. Places to visit Oakham, Stamford and Rutland water. Best food we had was at a pub called The Wheatsheaf in a village called Edith Weston near the south side of Rutland water.

Fantastic lodge, very modern & great facilities. One of the best we've stayed in Felt like a home from home. Staff were always on hand to answer any questions. Local area was lovely, lots of things to do for a mixture of ages. Only thing for us is we did feel like the lodges are quite close together meaning the hot tubs can feel abit overlooked at times. Would defo return

Beautiful quiet setting, lodge was fabulous, it was new, modern and very comfortable with everything you need. The biggest attribute to the stay were the staff, unbelievably helpful, pleasant and just thoroughly lovely people ….go out of their way to ensure your stay is the best it can possibly be ?????
Melanie

Gainsborough Hall lodges are in a lovely rural location. It's a quiet park, with only 45 lodges, but was just what we wanted. Our lodge was clean, well equipped with plenty of cutlery and kitchen utensils. There was good space in the lodge too with comfy bedding and towels. The hot tub was great, well used by all of our party and we loved the decking. The area around Ranksborough is lovely to walk in, crops and animals to see and the small village is very quaint, no shops but nice to walk through. There is an Aldi a short drive away. The lodges are perfect for a couples get away or with more grown up children. Perfect holiday and perfect location. I would recommend and would return of in this area.
David
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The lodge had every amenity including towels. The site is very pleasant and quiet. I would definately recommend this site.
