skipsea sandsSkipsea Sands is a very popular holiday park for families set in East Yorkshire.The great thing about this holiday park is the picturesque countryside setting and the fact that you will also be within easy reach of wide stretches of soft sand beaches, giving you the best of both worlds.

There is plenty to do at this park to keep the whole family entertained including an indoor heated swimming pool with sauna and steam room. This is a great place for kids to enjoy the pool and adults will enjoy the relaxation of the sauna and steam room after an active day in the park.

But it doesn’t stop there. In the evening you will be treated to a range of entertainment or you could visit the Diner for a nice meal or one of the bars for a drink. Entertainment for kids during the day is of a high quality and will give you some time to spend doing what you like without having to worry about whether your kids are having a good time. If you enroll them in one of the children’s clubs you can be certain that they are being looked after and entertained with a range of activities. Sparkys Crew is the club to be in for 5-11 year olds and for older kids aged 12-16 there is another group called The Mix.

If you like to enjoy activities and entertainment as a family then there is a sports hall, table tennis and ten pin bowling. Skipsea Sands aims to cater for everyone and this is a good choice of holiday park if you are looking for a lively and active holiday. But if you like to relax as well don’t forget that you are close to the countryside which is perfect for some peace and quiet as well as the beaches which stretch from Flamborough Head to Spurn Point.

Customer reviews for this holiday park are very favourable and many describe the holiday park as well maintained, very friendly, good for families and the fact that you get a warm welcome. Skipsea Sands offers traditional holiday park accommodation in caravans which are well equipped and sleep from 6-8 people depending on the design you choose. The caravans offer excellent value for money and are a good choice for a budget break in the UK. As it is a self catering holiday you can make the most of the freedom and flexibility on offer and choose exactly what you want to do at any time of the day without having the adhere to time constraints such as meal times.

You might enjoy some days out too if you can tear yourself away from the fun and activities within Skipsea Sands holiday park. There is a good shopping centre about 7 miles away at Bridlington. The centre is covered and indoors so perfect for shopping all year round. The Scarborough North Bay Railway around 22 miles away is also worth a visit.

Skipsea Sands Surrounding Area

There is so much to see and do in and around Skipsea Sands Holiday Park. As you will have the luxury of both a countryside and also a beach setting you can take advantage of the natural surroundings for exploring and relaxing.

The beaches in the East Yorkshire area are very nice and we recommend a visit to Filey Beach which is just 15 miles from Skipsea Sands. Here you will find a very long golden beach with a pretty promenade and scattered beach huts along the beach edge. Alternatively there is a nice beach at Cayton Bay which is more intimate and has a breathtaking backdrop of cliffs. There is a holiday park at Cayton Bay and this beach tends to have visitors from the local holiday centre.

If you like to be more active and are looking for a good place to go walking then the Hole of Horcum Walk is a classic walk beginning in the small village of Levisham. This is less than 29 miles from Skipsea Sands. The walk involves some fantastic scenery and a walk down into a deep valley on the way to Levisham Beck. For those who like nature then there is a nature reserve around 23 miles from Skipsea Sands which is well worth a visit. It’s called the Far Ings National Nature Reserve and is based in Barton upon Humber. Here you will see over 230 species of wildflower, 50 species of nesting birds and many other types of wildlife living in this area.

For fun and lively family days out then Peasholm Park in nearby Scarborough is a good choice. This is a very pretty park, popular in the summer for walks, and there is a peaceful lake where you can hire boats. Alternatively you could head to the Sea Life Sanctuary also in Scarborough where a large ocean tank has been transformed into a coral reef. The colours and types of fish are spectacular. As with most holidays, food and drink have a big part to play, and you will probably be looking for some good places locally to eat out or enjoy a drink. 5 Leys Restaurant in Fliey is always popular with fabulous sea views and a varied menu. All of the food is sourced locally and is of a very good quality. It’s also good for summer months as it’s fully air conditioned throughout.

If you venture a little further afield to Scarborough then Marmalade’s Brasserie is recommended. This is a very stylish and modern restaurant within the hotel Beiderbecke and is well worth a visit. For good seafood then you can’t get much better than Elio’s Restaurant in Barton Upon Humber. This place specialises in freshly caught fish and locally grown produce. Elio’s has also won awards and serves classic Italian and French dishes alongside the seafood specialities. All in all you should find plenty to keep you entertained in this area if indeed you choose to leave Skipsea Sands at all. From family days out to lovely relaxing beaches the region of East Yorkshire has something for everyone.
 
Skipsea Sands Accommodation

There are many different types of caravans on offer at Skipsea Sands Holiday Park. The Skipsea Bronze 2 caravans are very well equipped with one double and one twin bedroom. This makes this type of caravan a good choice for families. Within this caravan you will find a TV, kitchen with microwave, shower, bed linen and sheets and additional sleeping for 2 in the lounge area. The Bronze 3 Caravan offers much the same facilities however there is an extra twin bedroom so this caravan sleeps up to 8. This would be the one to go for if there is a larger party and you are wanting a bit more space.

For a bit more luxury then the Skipsea Silver is a more superior caravan with one double and one twin room. No pets are allowed within the Skipsea Silver caravans. Amenites include a well equipped kitchen with microwave, bed linen and duvets, shower and TV. You could sleep 4-6 people in this caravan. The Skipsea Gold caravan is a top of the range 12ft wide caravan offering something more superior yet still providing value for money. There is one double and two twin bedrooms sleeping up to 8. Amenities are the same as with the Silver standard caravan but with the added advantage of an extra bedroom and also beds will be made up for your arrival.

Gas and Electricity is included in the cost of the caravan accommodation. All of the caravans are good value and provide outstanding self catering accommodation.
