Mid Wales Attractions

mid wales days outIf you’re thinking of or have already booked a holiday in Mid Wales then let us save you the time of searching for local attractions.  We have put together information on all of our favourite things to do and see in this lovely area of Wales.

Theme Parks

For children of all ages theme parks can make a really fun and memorable day out.  The Dinosaur park in Tenby is fantastic, the focal point being the trail where you can find Dinosaurs roaming in the woods.  Other fun activities include an adventure playground and crazy golf.  When it’s time to recharge the batteries head for the restaurant or you can bring your own picnic and make use of the charming picnic area.

For younger children the Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo is a real treat and comprises a superb zoo and a huge funfair.  The location is in Kilgetty and is within easy reach from many holiday parks.

For the really active the Blue Lagoon Waterpark in Narbeth is great fun including a rapid river, slides, bubble pools and plenty more water based excitment.

Nature

If you enjoy outdoor activities or have an interest in nature then Mid Wales has much to offer.  The National Botanic Garden of Wales is a must see and has the largest single-span glasshouse in the world.  The setting is a beautiful place for walks and you can enjoy 500 acres of countryside lakes and ponds. Located in Llanarthne this is the no.1 Modern Wonder of Wales.

Pembrey Country Park is also a memorable place to visit and will suit active families and couples.  You can take part in may activities including dry slope ski-ing and horse riding.  There are three restaurants within the park meaning plenty of dining options.  Children can enjoy the adventure playground.

Indoor Play Areas

If the weather doesn’t go your way on holiday you might like to think about taking the kids to an indoor play area where they can run off some energy.  The Playzone Indoor Soft Play Centre in Swansea is ideal for 1-14 year olds.  Ocean Commotion in Tenby is also well worth a visit open from 10am to 6pm seven days a week this is a good place to head in the colder months.

Educational

Sometimes days out are not all about having fun – you might want you and your family to learn something too!  If this is the case then some tours or historic sites might be for you.  The Dolaucothi Gold Mines in Llanwrda are a good place to start where you can take a guided tour underground with miners hats and lamps.  Another underground attraction is King Arthur’s Labyrinth where you get to take a trip underground on a boat and hear ancient Welsh legends of King Arthur.
