Set on a unique inland island within a few minutes' walk of the historic village of Stamford Bridge - with shops and a choice of pubs. An ideal base to visit all the attractions of historic York and the Yorkshire Moors, Flamingo Land Theme Park, Castle Howard and the coasts are all easily accessible.

The caravans provide a great place to stay and a cosy retreat after a busy day.  We like the Weir Deluxe caravan which has two bedrooms and can sleep up to 6 people.  The accommodation included flatscreen TV/DVD/CD, kitchen with microwave and bed linen and duvets.  On sunny days you can enjoy sitting out on your private verandah with garden furniture.

Fun Days Out in Vale Of York

Dig promises a unique fun and educational experience and is the ideal place for a family day out. The site features four exciting excavation pits filled with Roman, Viking, Medieval and Victorian remains which children will just love digging up! While discovering the treasures children can speak to the friendly staff and learn about the items they are finding.  There are also three discovery rooms where children can try out various archaeological techniques, a science lab where experiments are plentiful and a field tent offering a range of activities. Pre booking is recommended during school holidays and at weekends.

Castle Howard is a beautiful place for a day trip set within 1,000 acres of glorious parkland and garden. The site is home to the historic castle itself but also has many other attractions including the Land Train which is a great way to explore the park and the Great Lake where boat trips can be enjoyed. During school holidays and at weekends in the summer organised activities such as crafting sessions, animal encounters and educational talks are on offer to ensure that the children are well catered for. Other attractions include the Adventure Playground, Nature Trail, Farm Shop and Café.

If you have children of varied ages and are looking for a day out to please everyone, then Creepy Crawlies is the perfect choice. The all weather attraction offers fun and games for children up to 12 years old and also provides a place for adults to relax and enjoy a coffee while the kids are playing on the slides, sports area and adventure zone. The site also has a very impressive outdoor area and petting zoo where children can enjoy crafts and meet cute and cuddly animals. Outside there is also a pedal track with Berg Go karts for big children and ride on's for little ones, a pond and a sensory zone where children can touch and feel new and interesting things. You can bring along a picnic to enjoy outside or try a freshly cooked meal at the cafe.

York Maze is fast becoming one of the regions top tourist attractions during the summertime.  This year the maze has a new design to make it even more fun and interesting.  The maze is carved out of an amazing 1.5 million growing maize plants and is thought to be the largest maze in the world! Of course the maze is the main attraction of the site, but there are plenty of other things for the whole family to enjoy including an adventure playground, 9 hole crazy golf course and a animal petting area where children can meet the animals that eat the maize and watch pig racing! Tractor and trailer rides around the maize are also available.

Caravan very comfortable, more homely than other caravans we have stayed in. Furniture of high standard and we really enjoyed the use of the verandah outside overlooking the river, and so did our 2 dogs.

A beautiful park in an ideal location for exploring York and surrounding area.
Margaret
The park was clean, quite and not far from York City (approx. 7 miles) We had a three bedroom caravan in pretty location - it was clean and had everything you would need for cooking and eating. Arrival was welcoming and Christine was helpful on a query we had. Would recommend to anyone and would go back again.
Keith
Very well presented Park - would definitely come again.
Sam
We loved staying here, looking out onto the weir was lovely. The kids enjoyed the wildlife on our doorstep, including feeding the geese. The staff were very friendly and the handiness of the village and shops was great. Thanks Sam
Andrew
Lovely quiet park and the wheelchair accessible caravan was great. Staff on site were really helpful, informative and friendly.
Claire
Loved it here. Although the site it quiet its just around the corner from the local village - a stones throw from a pub, Indian & Cantonese restaurants, chippy, small supermarket, pizza place, sandwich shop and ice cream cafe. Its not too far into York either so you are in a fab location. We would definitely come here again.
Julia
Weir Holiday Park is really peaceful, clean and in a great setting. It is only a few minutes walk to the village Stamford Bridge. Good pubs, shops and takeaways. Staff at the park were really friendly and helpful. The only problem was the weather !. Unfortunately it rained nearly every day , so we came home early, which was a shame because this park is lovely. We will be back and hopefully the weather will be better !. Would recommend this park if you want a peaceful holiday in very good accommodation and beautiful setting.
Edwina
