The beautiful countryside around Bowland Fell Park makes this holiday park the perfect destination for walking, cycling, fishing and wildlife spotting. It's close to the Yorkshire Dales and just 30 miles from the Lake District so there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities and for taking in some wonderful views.

With an indoor heated swimming pool, a children's play area and a lovely bar and restaurant, the park is also within easy reach of numerous attractions, such as Bolton Abbey and the picturesque market towns of Skipton and Leyburn. There are plenty of places to eat, drink and be merry - the Thirteen Café Bar in Settle offers a great choice of beers, including Czech Budvar!

Choose from a two or three bedroomed caravan - we like the brand new Lifestyle Gold which sleeps up to four people with one double and one twin bedroom. It's centrally heated, double glazed and has a good sized verandah complete with garden furniture.

For a great day out nearby, Harrogate still has its Victorian Turkish Baths where you can indulge in some spa treatments before popping for tea at Betty's Café Tea Rooms.

Our Top Tip
"Check out the fantastic wave machine and the roof high water slide at Pendle Wavelengths in Nelson, and see the deer, llamas and goats at Bowland Wild Boar Park in Preston."

Fun Days Out in Yorkshire Dales

This York attraction is educational as well as fun as you get to learn all about the Viking-Age city of Jorvik. Archaeologists from York Archaeological Trust revealed the houses, workshops and backyards of the Viking-Age city of Jorvik, as it stood 1,000 years ago.  You get to travel around in a unique state of the art time capsule.  For a more realistic experience you might get a blast of smoke from the blacksmith's furnace.  It is recommended that you book ahead during school holidays as this popular attraction gets very busy.

Yorkshire Lavender is an amazing award winning attraction offering breathtaking panoramic views of York, a Café, Plant Nursery and Lavender Gardens. The 60 acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent choice for a day trip. The onsite shops sells Lavender products such as bath and body treats, skincare, medicine and herbal remedies.

Madhyamaka Meditation Centre  a unique and very special centre in the Yorkshire moors offering amazing meditation experiences for experts and novices. The beautiful setting really ads to the experience and the gorgeous grounds are abundant with wildlife including Squirrels, Deer and Birds including Red Kites. The centre is now offering a special weekend retreat for families which includes family friendly guided meditations as well as fun activities such as face painting, games and a barbeque.

Scarborough Sea Life and Marine Sanctuary is an excellent choice for a day trip if you are enjoying a family holiday in the Yorkshire region. A stroll around this fascinating centre takes customers on a journey beneath the waves and allows encounters with many strange, beautiful and fascinating creatures of the deep. Everything from the common starfish to the mighty shark can be seen. The otters, seals and penguins are very popular and feeding time is a real highlight. There are also regular talks and demonstrations throughout the day. Outside there is a children's play area and picnic spot but there is also a restaurant onsite. Family tickets are available at just £46.80 but huge savings available by calling into one of the Tourist Information Centres in Scarborough, Whitby or Filey.
No matter where you are staying in the Yorkshire region a visit to Castle Howard is a must. The magnificent 18th century house has a stunning setting in breathtaking parkland with gorgeous grounds speckled with temples, lakes, statues and fountains. The formal gardens are the perfect place for a stroll and the woodland garden and ornamental vegetable garden feature some beautiful displays. Other attractions include the Great Lake where visitors can take boat trips and the adventure playground where the little ones can run around. The house is also open to the public and guided tours are available. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic but there are also 3 cafes onsite and 6 shops. An adult ticket for the house and gardens is just £13.

Situated just a short drive from out holiday parks and lodges in the Yorkshire Dales is The Deep! This award-winning 'submarium', is home to over 3500 fish from tiny neons to spectacular sharks and rays! The site is a big hit with adults and children alike and visitors can enjoy wandering through Europe's deepest viewing tunnel and take a thrilling a glass lift ride through the 10m deep tank. The Deep is also home to the world's largest exhibition, featuring weird animals from the depths, and slime! The Deep also aims to educate visitors with regular talks and events and is involved in conservation and research around the world, from the Caribbean to the North Sea oil fields. We recommend dining in the fantastic Two Rivers Restaurant which overlooks some of the aquatic displays. Two adults and two children can take advantage of the family ticket which costs just £32.00.

For a relaxing day out surrounded by nature Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens is an excellent choice. The charming series of small gardens are beautifully situated surrounding a late C19th farmhouse. And offer the perfect place for a leisurely stroll or a family picnic. Established some 30 years ago, each garden is crammed with stunning texture and foliage creating dramatic displays and beautifully landscaped areas. Visitors can also enjoy a woodland walk leading down to a wildlife pond and on to a wildflower meadow. Nature lovers will enjoy seeing the many birds and butterflies as well as the rare poultry. There is a nursery onsite where plants can be purchased.  Those with green fingers can enjoy several morning courses throughout the year including Planting and care of wildflower meadows and Perennials for autumn colour and to prolong the season. Entry to the gardens cost just £4 for adults and 50p for children. Courses are priced at £12 and include coffee.

Only problem was the door on the bathroom stuck and had to rescue the children and my husband a few times, this has been reported at reception, other than that a comfortable and clean caravan brilliant for the family.

The 'van was well situated with a very nice decking area, complete with a table and four chairs. One thing I think it lacked, but it's the same with most 'vans, nowhere to hang things! i.e. no hooks on doors, no hooks in the bathroom! Just a minor gripe. Overall, very nice.

Really clean with well equipped kitchen and new appliances. Good size and nothing to fault.
At this time of year, my wife and I have always liked a week away where we simply 'chill out'. This is the week where we put kids/grandkids on the 'back burner' and just relax! Bowland is the ideal place for just that. Secluded, tidy, scenic, just the job. Everyone we came into contact with on the site were very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed a meal we had on site at the pub. The site is ideally placed in respect to its proximity to places like Thirsk, Skipton, Settle, Hawes and, of course, the Lakes! Yes, I would highly recommend Bowland Fell Park!
Lovely site with great facilities, shame none were open and the pub only served food from Thursday
Beautiful place to stay lovely and quiet
Lovely place so very clean and we'll equipped
Very nice accommodation. Every where clean tidy. Drinks expensive, but good choice. Disappointed with one meal when we got it , it was not very hot. This wa put right but did put us off but would go back.
A good holiday in a quiet location. The caravan was clean and spacious and it was useful to have wifi. The absence of towels was surprising (although trip advisor had warned us of this) as most self-catering units provide them. The week we stayed was exceptionally cold for May and I would recommend paying more for central heating in spring and autumn as the gas fire was not really up to the job. Also reception closed at 5, so we didn't see any staff until we left - not that we had any problems.
Have never been anywhere before that has made us feel so welcome. The bar manager was a true true gent. He could not do enough for us. This guy alone sold the site to us. The food served was fantastic. We will definitely be back.
lovely quiet site in great location
This was our second holiday at Bowland Fell Holiday Park and we had a lovely time. The on-site pub is lovely and serves great food and the children's play areas are brilliant. There is a superb new farm shop on-site too. The indoor games room requires some refurbishment but as I understand it we visited during a period of transition from one building to another so I am sure it will be sorted soon. The only negative points are the cleanliness of the swimming pool changing areas and also the carpet inside our caravan really really needed a good clean.
