Visitor Reviews of Winston Farm Lodges

Date of stay: 7th April 2024
Just home from an amazing short break at Winston Farm Lodges following much research we booked the Kingfisher lodge and were not disappointed, these lodges are equipped with everything you could think of to make your stay an enjoyable one they are also maintained to the highest standard and Immaculately clean, Steve and Claire your hosts really do leave nothing to chance .We arrived to find milk and Eggs in the fridge which was a nice touch even salt and pepper on the table which is a rare find in rental units, we had messaged ahead and asked for the twin room to be dressed as a king size bed this was not an issue and in fact the 2 singles formed a super king size bed which our friends were made up with, We loved the central living layout of the lodge as we travel as two couples without Children this is what we always look for having the bed rooms at either end of the lodge with the kitchen and living space in-between rather than both bed rooms at one end this layout tends to make both bedrooms similar size (large)and each with a large on suite bathroom making it much more comfortable for all.Steve popped round every day just to check the hot tub and on the first day came with a gift of some sausages which went down well and was defiantly above and beyond have to say we have never had that before it was a lovely touch, we even had the great pleasure to meet Steve’s Dad Tony a great character and lovely guy to chat to.The Highlight of the lodge must be the proximity to the canal my wife and I were fascinated watching all of the narrow boats passing by in both directions this I think will be even better when we return for a two week stay in the Heron lodge in the summer and get to use the outside space far more.Big Thank you to Steve, Claire and the team can’t wait to return in the summer for a 2 week stayJohn, Yvonne, Norman and Ann

Perfect' sums up this short break. Excellent accommodation in a beautiful location with great hosts. Our lodge, Kingfisher, was just right for us (2 adults 2 children) with its spacious open plan layout. Fully equipped with everything you might need, great days out on the doorstep and the added luxury of a hot tub to return to helped make this a relaxing break (which, with a 7 and 4 year old is not always easy). We loved it so much we've already booked to return next Easter.

We had a perfect weekend break, we stayed in the Heron Lodge which had everything you needed and more. The outside area is amazing, we spent a lot of time outside watching the barges go passed. Feeding the reindeer is a must, they are so friendly and tame. Can't wait to go back again.

Beautiful modern lodge, VERY well kept and cleaned it was spotless. Great WiFi and facilities and they even provide an onsite Netflix for you to use, so saved us logging into ours then. One of the nicest lodges we've used and we have had plenty of these breaks and always pick higher end lodge retreats.

Beautiful surrounding, stunning lodge and pleasure to be one of the first people to stay in this new lodge.
Will definitely be visiting again soon!!!
Jay, Leeds
Very well build no expense spared. Could do with a little more lighting outside and maybe a tv in the bedroom.
Babs, Shepton Mallet
Cabin warm and comfortable albeit beds slightly too soft but that is personal preference.
Stephanie, Coventry
The Heron lodge was beautiful, the furnishings all appeared brand new and complimented the style of the lodge perfectly. I honestly don’t have any negatives to say about the property and I can’t wait to return to these lodges again. I have stayed at a lot of lodge properties and this has by far been my favourite.

Best weekend we have had away kids loved it and hosts was amazing would recommend it to everyone
Lisa
Lovely, peaceful location right beside the canal. The site is very well maintained and the owners are very friendly and welcoming, even bringing over sausages and steak from the farm. Lots of picturesque places to visit within easy driving distance, and lovely walks along the canal. We had a great week and will definitely return.
Hazel
Absolutely lovely! The lodge was spacious, clean and well maintained. The surroundings were peaceful with just the gentle passing of narrowboats along the canal. The hot tub and decking perfect for a summer evening. We arrived to find fresh eggs and milk. Later the owner popped round (along with the children, the dog and a lamb in tow) to make sure we’d settled in ok and delivered some fresh steaks and sausages. The personal touches of this family run business would be lost on a larger commercial operation. If you want a relaxing break away this comes highly recommended.
Array
We had a fantastic break. The lodge was exceptional and the owners were so helpful. Would most definitely recommend as the best lodge we’ve stayed in.
Karen
As always Steve you do a great job going that extra mile to make everyone’s holiday special see you again next year Thanks John & Karen
Kevin
Fabulous location of this very comfortable lodge where you sit on the huge deck area and watch the narrow boats go past. The accommodation is really comfortable and the owners are lovely people who responded really quickly when we had a small problem with the lodge. They even bring some fresh steak and sausages which were fabulous. If you want a chilled break in lovely surroundings give this a go.
Karen
Beautiful surroundings right by the canal , if you want a quiet and peaceful weekend then this place is just that , was very clean and beautiful lodge ,the people who own it was lovely they even gave us some steak and sausages to cook on the barbecue, would definitely go back ?
David
Absolutely fabulous break…..location and lodge were excellent.
Mary
Our 2nd visit to Lapwing. Beautiful spot right by the Shropshire Union Canal. Lodge was spotlessly clean, lovely fixtures/fittings/bedding/towels including towels and gowns for hot tub. Washing machine, dishwasher, oven, gas job and fridge freezer. Very rarely at lodges do you get outside sofas as well as table and chairs and such a big patio that you have at Winston Farm. Welcome pack was a nice gesture. The Mere at Ellesmere, Chick Castle, Chester Zoo and Llangollen all worth visiting. Only suggestions we could make was for more hangers or a set of draws inside wardrobes.
Sue
Lovely holiday in comfortable lodge in peaceful, tranquil setting with beautiful views. A perfect spot to unwind.
Dale
Such a lovely place to get away and the owners are great too
Gordon
Fantastic, relaxing, just what was needed and glorious weather as well. Everything spot on will return.

Lovely lodge, owners very friendly and helpful, peaceful tranquil location, great amenities in Ellesmere too, would thoroughly recommend
Bryan
