Landguard is a beautifully kept, family-friendly holiday park situated just half a mile away from Shanklin, a bustling Victorian village on the southern coast of the Isle of Wight. This location is perfect for exploring the numerous delights that the island has to offer, as well as providing ample activities for those who would prefer to remain on-site.

The park itself is home to indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools appropriate for all ages and abilities, no matter the weather. Swimming not really your strong point? Don't worry, as there are water-slides for small children and "big kids" alike to join in the watery fun!

If you still have energy after all that, the park runs regular free sports and leisure activities, with the chance to cool off and relax afterwards at the café or the Oasis Sports Bar. If you fancy a change of pace, the amusement arcade is bound to keep you busy for a couple of hours, before you grab a bite to eat at The Granary Restaurant and Takeaway.

After a day in Landguard, you may decide to be adventurous at leave the holiday park and head further afield. A British holiday is never complete without a trip to the beach, and nearby Shanklin offers that and good shopping in spades! The beach at Shanklin offers unparalleled views of the British channel, as well as the spectacular cliffs and forest at Luccombe.

The Ventnor Botanic Garden has an unrivalled collection of subtropical and exotic plants, thriving together outside of the standard protective greenhouses due to the mild climate and sheltered setting, and interacting as they would in their native environments. The Ventnor Heritage Centre, however, is a bit more localised, exploring the development of the town from its origins as a tiny fishing hamlet in the nineteenth-century, to a fashionable Victorian resort with two railway stations and a pier. On the other hand, if you loved the sandy beaches of Shanklin, then Alum Bay may be the perfect follow-up destination. Noted for its multi-coloured sand cliffs, this popular tourist destination offers a close sight of the Needles rock formation.

After a busy day exploring, Landguard offers a range of holiday homes to relax in. Two and three bedroom caravans make up the bulk of the park, separated into two categories: standard and superior. The superior caravans have added extras for example the Lime Caravan features both double-glazing and central heating - perfect for those winter getaways! If caravans aren't your style, there are luxury lodges available too, as the highest mark of Landguard's quality. The Rowan Lodge is brand new for 2017, and features three-bedrooms, DVD and soundbar and a verandah to take in the stunning views of the holiday park.

Our Top Tip
"After exploring Shanklin to its fullest take a trip to close-by Ventnor, with its beautiful gardens and fascinating museum."

Nice and spacious, for 7 of us,clean, comfortable beds and clean linen. Had a small problem with the smoke detector waking us at 6am. We reported it 3 times but nothing was done so we took the battery out. Not ideal.

Mandy
Great holiday, lovely staff. Would go again.
Viv
Caravan was lovely and clean and provided a good base. Good shopping and laundry facilities. We were unable to get a hot drink in the cafe/bar at 4.45 on day of arrival, which I thought unreasonable. We tried the restaurant on the first evening but were unable to get our first or second choices on the menu because they were “out”. Beautiful well kept grounds. We needed a small repair to the caravan and this was dealt with very efficiently.
