Surrounded by 21 acres of beautiful countryside, and just a short distance from the Durham Dales and Hamsterley Forest, Heather View Leisure Park is the ultimate rural retreat. There are numerous outdoor activities to take part in - from horse riding, walking and fishing to golf and swimming. County Durham is a fantastic holiday destination for the whole family.

There are any number of market towns, Roman forts and waterfalls to discover, but if you fancy staying closer to home, the park has a lovely Canadian style lodge bar and restaurant where you can enjoy home cooked food. There's entertainment and play areas for the kids, as well as some beautiful walking and cycle routes - the Derwent Walk from Consett is traffic-free.

The accommodation is a mix of caravan and lodges. Deluxe 3 Lodge is spacious enough for six people with a lovely master double bedroom and two twin rooms. The open plan living/kitchen/dining area is light and airy and there's a decking area with patio furniture.

The Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle is fascinating, housing the largest collection of European arts in the North of England. Take in the views as you walk from Middleton Bridge and follow the River Tees to Eggleston Bridge.

Our Top Tip
"Prudhoe Water World is perfect for water babies - the 25m pool, wave machine and 40m aqua slide will keep them busy for hours!"

Had a wonderful week - despite the snow we were lovely and warm in our caravan which was spacious and immaculately clean. Enjoyed exploring the north east and plan to return.

A beautiful well equipped lodge that had everything. Such a bonus to have an ensuite to the master bedroom. The washer/dryer and dishwasher were a very pleasant surprise

Donna
Great location. Caravan was exceptionally clean, actually thought we were the first ones to stay in it until I found a little child’s toy under a bed. Everything was spotless. Lovely pub and night entertainment. Disappointed that the pub wasn’t open in the morning to do breakfasts though.
Ian
Really enjoyed the stay. Beautiful countryside. The mobile home was functional and well insulated.
Tina
We had an amazing stay at Heather View over the February half term. We stayed in a lodge which was immaculately clean and very well equipped. The children loved exploring the beautiful surroundings and there were plenty of scenic walks right on the doorstep. The Park is ideally situated for exploring the wonders of the North and we enjoyed days at Beamish Museum, High Force waterfall, and Durham city to name a few We will definitely be returning
Nicola
